In a sweeping operation, Lokayukta sleuths in Karnataka launched raids on over 70 locations associated with 17 government officials. These officials stand accused of accumulating wealth that significantly exceeds their known sources of income, according to Lokayukta sources, as quoted by news agency PTI. The extensive searches conducted by several teams of Lokayukta police, aided by local law enforcement, began in the early hours of the day. A wide array of assets, including substantial amounts of cash, gold, real estate properties, luxury vehicles, land investments, stocks, and high-end electronic devices, were reportedly discovered during the raids.

Dr. A Subramanyeahwara, the Inspector General of Police (Lokayukta), revealed, "We have registered 17 cases against public servants across Karnataka. These raids are ongoing at 70-odd locations."

The operations, spanning multiple districts, were conducted in Bengaluru, Mandya, Raichur, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Chitradurga, Ballari, Tumakuru, Udupi, Hassan, Belagavi, Davangere, and Haveri. Lokayukta officials have not disclosed the identities of the accused government officials at this time.

The investigation is currently underway as the Lokayukta seeks to determine the extent of the disproportionate wealth amassed by these public servants. These actions highlight the government's commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring accountability within the public sector, reinforcing the importance of upholding integrity and transparency in governance.
