Karnataka Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: BJP-JDS alliance ends tally at 19 seats, Congress wins 9

Karnataka Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: The BJP won 17 seats, while the JD(S) has won two seats. The Congress improved on its 2019 Lok Sabha tally by winning nine seats. The results show the BJP-JDS duo's dominance in the contest, but a decent fight by the Congress.

Karnataka Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: The counting has ended! The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance finished ahead of its rival Congress in the 28 Lok Sabha seats on Tuesday (June 4). The BJP won 17 seats, while its ally Janata Dal (Secular) clinched victories in two out of three seats it contested. The Congress has vastly improved on its performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and clinched nine seats.

BJP's Tejasvi Surya defeated Congress' Sowmya Reddy by a massive margin, while Shobha Karandlaje won from Bangalore North and Ramesh Jigajnagi won from Bijapur. BJP candidate Govind Makthappa Karjol wins from the Chitradurga seat in Karnataka, defeating Congress' BN Chandrappa by over 48,000 votes. BJP candidates Basavaraj Bommai and Brijesh Chowta also secured victories in Haveri and Dakshina Kannada respectively. Former CM BS Yediyurappa's son BY Raghavendra won in Shimoga and V Somanna won in Tumkur. JDS stalwart and former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy won the Mandya seat by over 2.86 lakh votes, and his party colleague M Mallesh Babu won in Kolar.

Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexually abusing several women and also recording them, was defeated by Shreyas M Patel. Congress candidate Radhakrishna won the Gulbarga seat, defeating BJP candidate Umesh G Jadhav by over 27,000 votes. Congress' E Tukuram won in Bellary and Sagar Eshwar Khandare won in Bidar. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi (BJP) won in the Dharwad Lok Sabha seat, defeating Congress' Vinod Asooti. BJP's PC Gaddigoudar won in Bagalkot and CN Manjunath won in Bangalore Rural.

BJP's Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri won the Uttara Kannada seat by over 3.3 lakh votes and Kota Srinivas Poojary won in Udupi Chikmagalur. BJP's Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar won in Mysore and Dr K Sudhakar won in Chikkballapur.  BJP's PC Mohan defeated Congress' Mansoor Ali Khan in Bangalore Central. Other winners from Congress wee Priyanka Jarkiholi from Chikkodi, G Kumar Naik from Raichur, Prabha Mallikarjun from Devanagare and Sunil Bose from Chamarajnagar.

BJP's Tejasvi Surya has also maintained a formidable lead over Congress in Bangalore South. The counting began at the 29 counting centres in the State at 8 am. Elaborate arrangements have been made with the deployment of more than 13,000 staff at the 29 counting centres across Karnataka for the counting of votes for the 28 constituencies, officials said.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won the majority of the parliamentary seats in Karnataka - 25. An independent candidate Sumalatha, who was part of the NDA and has now joined the BJP, also won a seat, and the Congress-JD(S) alliance each won one of the two remaining seats. The JDS has now allied with the BJP this year, and the stakes are very high.
