Karnataka Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 LIVE: Rape accused Prajwal Revanna loses Hasan seat

Incumbent Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has lost against Congress’ Shreyas Patel.

Janata Dal (Secular) HD Kumaraswamy has won with 8,51,881 votes from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency. He won with a margin of 2,84,620.

Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who was accused of sexual abuse, is still lagging behind Congress candidate Shreyas M Patel in Hassan by over 43,000 votes, as of 3:35 pm.

BJP candidates Shobha Karandlaje and Tejasvi Surya from Bangalore North and Bangalore South respectively have extended their gains. Karandlaje is leading over MV Rajeev Gowda from Congress by 2,42,889 votes while Surya is ahead of Sowmya Reddy by 2,56,343 votes.

BJP candidate Govind Makthappa Karjol wins from the Chitradurga seat in Karnataka, registering the state's first victory. He defeated Congress candidate BN Chandrappa by 48,121 votes. Karjol polled 6,84,890 votes while Chandrappa garnered 6,36,769 votes.

BJP's Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has expanded his lead over Congress candidate Anjali Nimbalkar by 3,34,346 votes in Uttara Kannada.

BJP candidate CN Majnunath has widened his lead over Congress' DK Suresh by 1,82,566 votes in Bangalore Rural.

The ruling Congress in Karnataka appeared headed on Tuesday to improve its tally and BJP yield ground as per initial counting trends in 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State.

BJP's BY Raghavendra is currently leading his Congress rival Geetha Shivarajkumar by 1,75,564 votes.

BJP's Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri is leading over Congress candidate Anjali Nimbalkar by 2,66,421 votes in Uttara Kannada.

K Jayaprakash Hegde of the Congress is trailing behind BJP's Kota Srinivas Poojary by 1,32,944 votes.

Congress candidate Sagar Eshwar Khandre is leading in Bidar over his BJP rival Bhagwanth Khuba by over 1 lakh votes.

BJP's Tejasvi Surya has now widened his lead over Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy by 2,13,553 votes.

Congress candidate Mansoor Ali Khan is leading in Bangalore Central by over 60,000 votes.

BJP candidate Basavaraj Bommai is leading in Haveri seat by 27,483 votes.

BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje is leading over her Congress rival MV Rajeev Gowda by over 1 lakh votes in Bangalore North.

Congress candidate Shreyas M Patel is currently leading over JDS MP Prajwal Revanna in Hassan.

BJP MP from Bangalore South, Tejasvi Surya, has maintained a massive lead over Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy with a margin of 1,57,255 votes.

BJP candidate Jagadish Shettar is leading over Congress candidate Mrinal R Hebbalkar in Belgaum by 39,833 votes.

BJP was leading in 17 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka while its ally JD(S) was ahead in three. The Congress is leading in eight seats.

The BJP was ahead in 17 seats, Congress in eight and JD(S) in three as per initial counting trends in 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka on Tuesday, according to Election Commission officials. Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexually abusing several women and was suspended from JDS, was leading in Hassan.

BJP candidate and former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai is currently leading in Haveri seat.

The BJP is currently leading on 19 seats of Karnataka, while the JDS is ahead in all three seats it contested. The Congress has maintained a lead in six seats so far.

BJP incumbent MP Tejasvi Surya is leading against Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy in a high-profile contest in Bangalore South.

JDS candidate from Hassan Prajwal Revanna, who was accused of sexual abuse during the Lok Sabha elections, is ahead of Shreyas M Patel of Congress in his constituency.

The BJP-JDS alliance are collectively leading in 16 seats so far, while the Congress made a resurgence in 11 seats. The BJP is leading in 13 seats, and the JDS is ahead on all three seats it has contested.

Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde is currently leading in the Udupi Chikmagalur seat of Karnataka.

Congress candidate Radhakrishna is leading against BJP's Umesh G Jadhav in Gulbarga by a margin of 927 seats.

Janata Dal (Secular) candidate M Mallesh Babu is leading in Kolar, as per early trends in Karnataka.

JD(S) leader and candidate from Mandya HD Kumaraswamy exuded confidence that his party will win all seats and the BJP will get a minimum of 20 seats in Karnataka.

BJP candidate Brijesh Chowta is leading in Dakshina Kannada seat, as per early trends.

Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya offers prayers at his residence ahead of the counting of votes. 

"The counting process is underway at all the places. We have given strict instructions to all the DMs, SPs and COs (central observers) that the process of counting is done transparently and as per rulebook," says Chief Election Commission Rajiv Kumar. 

Elaborate arrangements have been put in place with the deployment of more than 13,000 staff at the 29 counting centres across Karnataka for the counting of votes on Tuesday for the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, according to officials.

The counting of votes for all 28 seats of Karnataka will begin shortly.

"I do not believe in this survey; we have done our best in the state in the last 40 years. There was no ‘Modi wave’ in Karnataka, and the people here know that whatever we promise, we fulfill it. The people have voted for us, and I am sure we will get a very good mandate," said Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar

BY Raghavendra, the son of former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa, has cinched victory in the Lok Sabha seat of Shimoga three times - in 2009, 2018 and 2019. The Congress has fielded Geetha Shivarajkumar, the daughter of late former CM BS Bangarappa and wife of Kannada superstar Dr Shivarajkumar. Moreover, the BJP faced a rebellion when KS Eshwarappa decided to contest as an independent candidate in Shimoga.

Tejasvi Surya, the fiery-tongued young leader and the president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) who won the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Bangalore South, has been brought back into the fray by the BJP. The Congress has fielded Sowmya Reddy, the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress of Karnataka and the daughter of Karnataka's Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy. 

JD(S) leader and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy is contesting from the Mandya seat under the NDA seat-sharing deal with BJP. He will face Venkataramane Gowda, also known as 'Star Chandru', from the Congress.

Prajwal Revanna is the scion of a notable political dynasty, being the son of former minister HD Revanna and the grandson of former PM HD Deve Gowda. Prajwal swiftly entered politics, becoming JD(S)'s youngest state secretary at 29 in November 2019. After being fielded from Hassan in this year's Lok Sabha elections, Revanna was accused of sexual abuse by several women and several obscene videos of him allegedly abusing women were circulated. He left for Germany on April 27 and returned after a month. He was arrested and remanded to the custody of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

According to the India TV-CNX Exit Poll, the BJP is likely to continue its dominance in Karnataka by winning 18-22 seats, while the Congress will likely fail to repeat its Assembly performance by winning only 4-8 seats. The third player JD-S is likely to win 1-3 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, as per the Exit Poll.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 17 out of the 28 parliamentary seats in Karnataka. The Congress secured nine seats and the Janata Dal (Secular) won two seats.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won the majority of the parliamentary seats in Karnataka - 25. An independent candidate Sumalatha, who was part of the NDA and has now joined the BJP, also won a seat, and the Congress and JD(S), both allies, each won one of the two remaining seats.

Some of the key battles were seen in Mandya, Hassan, Mysore Bangalore Rural, Bangalore South, Bangalore North and Dakshina Kannada in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The third phase of the Lok Sabha elections saw crucial contests in Shimoga, Dharwad, Haveri, Bellary and Belgaum
