Based on fallacious assumption: SC on Karnataka govt's decision on scrapping 4% Muslim quota

Karnataka government's decision to raise 2 per cent quota for Vokkaliga, and Lingayat each and scrapping 4 per cent OBC quota for Muslims prima facie is shaky and flawed, Supreme Court said.

Karnataka elections 2023: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Karnataka government on pleas challenging the State government's notification scrapping the 4 per cent OBC reservation for Muslims.

Karnataka government's decision to raise 2 per cent quota for Vokkaliga, and Lingayat each and scrapping 4 per cent OBC quota for Muslims prima facie is shaky and flawed, said Supreme Court according to PTI.

The top court deferred the next hearing in the case till April 18 after the Karnataka government assured that no admission, or appointments will be made till then.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assures the Supreme Court that no admission and appointment will be done by the Karnataka government on the basis of the notification till the next date of the hearing which is April 18.
