Karnataka Cabinet: A week after assuming power in Karnataka, a total of 24 legislators were sworn in as ministers on Saturday. The Karnataka government can have 34 ministers. Ten of them, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar, were sworn in on May 20.
Soon after the oath ceremony, speculations were rife that Chief Minister has kept all the key portfolios and has given ministries like major and medium irrigation, Bengaluru city development to his deputy DK Shivakumar. The CM has kept plum portfolios like Finance, Cabinet affairs, Department of personnel and administrative reforms, intelligence, information and all unallocated portfolios.
Home Ministry has been allocated to G Parmeswara; Mines and geology, horticulture has been handed over to SS Malikarjun. HK Patil gets Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Dinesh Gundu Rao gets Health & Family Welfare, Krishna Bayre Gowda gets Revenue.
Congress chief's son Priyank Kharge has been given the responsibility of Development and Panchayati Raj.
