Karnataka: Several items including sarees and school bags were found after the Commercial Tax Department raided the house of Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and BJP leader R Shankar in Haveri. According to reports, at least 6,000 sarees and 9,000 school bags were found from a godown.
Initial reports suggest that Shankar had gathered these items to woo voters ahead of the assembly elections in the state.
Speaking on the matter, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that the administration is doing its job, if all this is not wrong, then they can show their side by showing all the documents related to it.
"We have said earlier also that our government allows every agency to work independently, party has no role in these raids. Let them give all the details, if there is nothing wrong then let them show all the documents," Bommai said.
