Hubballi: A day after the BJP MLA K Madal Virupakshappa's son was caught with Rs 8.12 crore unaccounted cash from the latter's Bengaluru-based official residence, the Hubballi-Dharwad Central Crime Branch (CCB) police seized Rs 3 crore from the house of industrialist Ramesh Bongeri in the Sai Garden area.

According to the reports, the police got a tip-off about a large amount of unaccounted cash stored at the house of the businessman Bongeri. Subsequently, the sleuths raised the Hubballi-based house and recovered the amount on Saturday.

The case has been transferred to the IT department for further investigation, said the Central Crime Branch.

Earlier on Friday,  Virupakshappa's son Prashanth Madal was arrested after he was caught taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh from the owner of Chemixil Corporation. As of now, only Prashanth was arrested but the MLA is still at large.
