BJP will give Bharat Ratna to MLA's son over corruption but get Sisodia arrested despite good work: Kejriwal

Notably, Kejriwal comments came in the backdrop of Virupakshappa's son Prashanth Madal's corruption case wherein the latter was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh from the owner of Chemixil Corporation.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in Karnataka on Saturday, slammed the saffron party for not arresting BJP MLA K Madal Virupakshappa, whose son was caught with Rs 8.12 crore unaccounted cash from the latter's Bengaluru-based official residence.

While addressing a public rally, Kejriwal linked the case of BJP MLA with his former colleague Manish Sisodia, who has been facing CBI trials in an alleged liquor policy scam. In the rally, Kejriwal, taking a dig at the Centre, said, "One of their (BJP) minister's son was found in possession of Rs 8 cr but he isn't arrested yet. They might award him, Padma Bhushan, next year," said AAP national convener.

Notably, Kejriwal comments came in the backdrop of Virupakshappa's son Prashanth Madal's corruption case wherein the latter was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh from the owner of Chemixil Corporation. As of now, only Prashanth was arrested but the MLA is still at large.

Bharat Ratna for BJP corrupt minister's son

He claimed that the BJP minister was not arrested even though the sleuths have ample evidence whereas Sisodia was arrested despite the fact CBI did not find anything. "Minister's son was found with Rs 8crore but Manish Sisodia was arrested and he wasn't. They say Manish Sisodia is corrupted but in raids, he was found in possession of only Rs 10,000. They couldn't find anything even in Sisodia's bank locker," claimed Kejriwal.

Court extends Manish Sisodia's CBI remand till March 6

Notably, his comment came after the Delhi Court extended the former Deputy's CBI remand till March 6, Monday. He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam and was earlier produced before the Rouse Avenue District Court today after the expiry of his custodial remand.

During the hearing, Sisodia claimed that the sleuths were forcing him to sit for more than 9-10 hours and added they were asking the same questions. He called the interrogation kinda "mental harassment". "They are making me sit for questioning for as long as 9-10 hours asking me the same questions again and again. It not less than mental harassment," said the former Delhi minister.

AAP claims CBI working as per Centre's instructions

Meanwhile, reacting to the recent development, AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the sleuths were not working as per the evidence and truth but they were working on the instructions of the Centre. "CBI has nothing to do with evidence and truth. They are only listening to what the Central government is saying. This whole procedure is meant to trouble Manish Sisodia," said Bharadwaj.
