The Vande Bharat Express train running from Bhagalpur to Howrah on Saturday (September 29) suffered minor damage as the train hit a cattle sitting on a track. According to the information received, the incident occurred on Saturday evening as the train was en route to Howrah. However, as it departed from Jharkhand's Nonihat station, merely two kilometres afterwards, the train hit a cattle present on the track.

While no major casualties were reported after the incident, the train suffered minor damages, with its front fibre portion being a bit disfigured. "The aforesaid Vande Bharat Express train left the Bhagalpur station for Howrah at the scheduled time, i.e., at 3:20 pm on Saturday. However, en route, the train suffered minor damages as cattle appeared in front of the track. The incident took place near pole number 93-7," the information received from the railway reads.

Moreover, it is pertinent to note that, despite the incident, the loco-pilot moved ahead with the train from the site after the preliminary investigation and was later stopped at Dumka station, where the authorities from the Indian Railways inspected the front portion of the Vande Bharat Express. In the accident, the fibre portion in the front of the train was a bit damaged, which was repaired upon reaching the destination, the authorities mentioned.

Moreover, the incident comes days after rail operations remained severely affected after two wagons of a goods train carrying steel coils from Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) derailed between Tupkadih and Bokaro railway stations. According to the officials, the incident that occurred on Wednesday left the goods train (en route to Bahadurgarh) overturned near the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih railway station.

While no casualties were reported, however, the accident impacted train movements on both the up and down lines of the Bokaro-Gomo section. Over a dozen passenger, express, and Vande Bharat trains experienced delays due to the derailment, with many also being either delayed or rerouted.
