In a decisive move against CPI (Maoist) activities, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out extensive searches at four locations in Jharkhand on Wednesday, targeting the support network of the proscribed terrorist organization. The raids, conducted at premises in Ranchi and Latehar districts, resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of cash, digital devices, and incriminating materials.

An official statement from the NIA detailed the findings from the searches, which included Rs 36,30,000 in cash, incriminating posters, digital devices, and various other documents.

Significantly, it is pertinent to note that the NIA's action follows its takeover of the case from Peshrar police station in Lohardaga district on June 14, 2022. Earlier, in connection with the case, the NIA also filed supplementary charge sheets against 22 accused individuals. These individuals were identified as overground workers (OGWs) for CPI (Maoist), playing crucial roles in supporting the organization's activities.

"The accused were found to be working as OGWs, providing logistical support and facilitating the levy and money extorted by CPI (Maoist)'s armed cadres," the NIA stated.

Meanwhile, in other news, the NIA has also arrested a senior member of the banned CPI (Maoist) organization in a 2021 Bihar case related to seizures of arms, ammunition, explosives, etc.

"Rajesh Kumar Sinha, a Special Area Committee member of CPI (Maoist), has been arrested under various provisions of the Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, Criminal Law Amendment Act, and UA (P) Act in the case RC-11/2021/NIA/DLI, registered in June 2021," the NIA statement said.
