Jharkhand Assembly elections date announcement: State to vote in 2 phases on Nov 13 and 20, results on Nov 23

Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: The term of the current government in Jharkhand will end on January 5, 2025.

Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) today (October 15) announced the date of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024. The polling will take place in the state in two phases on November 13 and 20. The result will be declared on November 23 (Saturday), along with Maharashtra. 

The terms of legislative assemblies in Maharashtra and Jharkhand are set to expire on November 26 and January 5 respectively.

When is the last day for filing nominations?

The last day to file the nominations of Jharkhand will be October 25 for the first phase and October 29 for the second phase. The dates of scrutiny of the nominations are October 28 and October 30 respectively. The last date for the withdrawal of candidatures for the first will be October 30 and November 1 for the second phase. 

Voters in Jharkhand

Elections will be held across 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand spread across 24 districts. Out of the total 81 seats in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, 44 are reserved for the general category, 28 for Scheduled Tribes, and 9 for Scheduled Castes, the EC informed. 

There are a total of 2.6 crore votes in the state. This includes 1.29 crore female votes, 1.31 crore male and 66.84 lakh youth voters. There are 11.84 lakh first-time votes in the state aged between 18 and 19. "There are 9.63 crore eligible voters in Maharashtra while the number of eligible voters in Jharkand is 2.6 crore," Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said at a press conference here.
