In his first media statement after assuming the charge of Jharkhand Chief Minister for the third time, JMM leader Hemant Soren on Thursday (July 4) said that the present Mahagatbandhan government has done all the work in the interest of the people in the state.
He was speaking to the media after his swearing-in ceremony held in Ranchi today. Addressing concerns over the political situation in the state, the Jharkhand CM said, "The Mahagatbandhan government has done all the work in the interest of the people here. During the political ups and downs, Champai Soren took forward those initiatives because I was in jail... now because of the court's order, I could come out..."
Further, the JMM Executive President and the newly sworn-in Chief Minister mentioned that now, as he has taken over the charge, the developmental work for the state will be carried out again.
Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that Hemant Soren was once again sworn in as state Chief Minister after being released on a bail in a money laundering case.
Earlier this year, he had resigned from the post and paved the way for one of his close aides, Champai Soren, to take over the office just before his arrest. However, now that he has been released on bail, Hemant Soren once again staked a claim to the position from Champai Soren, who resigned on Wednesday (July 3). Champai Soren met Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday and tendered his resignation in the presence of the JMM executive president, capping a day-long drama full of speculations. He had said, "All know what had happened with Hemant Soren Ji... I was given the responsibility by the coalition partners. Now, the alliance has decided in favor of Hemant Soren Ji."

Meanwhile, on Thursday, speaking to the media after Hemant Soren's swearing-in, Champai Soren congratulated the JMM Executive President. He said, "A new government has been formed today, I congratulate Hemant Babu."
Moreover, Kalpana Soren, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's wife and JMM leader, also spoke about him (Hemant Soren) taking charge of the government. She said, "...After the High Court order, Hemant Soren has taken over again as CM. He will continue to work for people like he has always done... we have less time now..."
Champai Soren era is over in Jharkhand: BJP MP
Amid the political development in the state, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey earlier on July 3 said, "The Champai Soren era is over in Jharkhand. In the family-oriented party, people outside the family have no political future. I wish the chief minister drew inspiration from Bhagwan Birsa Munda and stood up against the corrupt Hemant Soren Ji."
Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi also hit out at JMM, claiming that "tribals outside Shibu Soren’s family are only temporary faces in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha." He also alleged that the "family believes in using people as per their needs and requirements."
