As the campaign for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections gains momentum, BJP leader and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a significant announcement during a rally in Latehar. He pledged that if the BJP comes to power in the state, women will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,000 every month.

While addressing the rally, Chouhan, who is the party’s in-charge for the elections, also took aim at the current Hemant Soren-led government, accusing it of corruption and mismanagement. He stated, “If the BJP comes to power in Jharkhand, we will provide Rs 2,000 per month to women and offer free solar energy under the Surya Ghar scheme.”

Chouhan criticised the state government for its alleged misuse of central funds for various schemes, claiming that corruption is rampant in Jharkhand. He remarked, “The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress government has devastated the state. Without money, no work gets done.”

Chouhan also slammed the incumbent JMM-Congress government for failing to fulfil its promises to the public over the past year. He claimed that the current government is offering only Rs 1,000 to women and questioned their commitment to genuine welfare. "If the government had provided Rs 2,000 every month for five years, it would have amounted to a total of Rs 120,000. Instead, they have taken Rs 18,000 and are now trying to placate voters with Rs 1,000," he remarked.

He asked the people at the rally, “Are you getting adequate electricity and drinking water in your villages? Is there water for irrigation? PM Modi allocated funds for the Jal Jeevan scheme to ensure every household has access to piped water. Despite sending thousands of crores, not every home has a water tap.”

Chouhan further alleged that funds sent from the central government were not reaching the people, saying, “The money was meant for the people, but the chief minister has consumed it all, leaving households without drinking water.”
