As many as terrorists were killed after the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a joint operation with the Indian Army, successfully thwarted yet another infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The security forces also recovered a Pakistani pistol along with other arms and ammunition and Rs 2,100 in Pakistan currency.
According to the Kupwara Police, the operation was launched based on specific input in the kumkadiarea of the Machil Sector. "Based on intelligence input provided by Kupwara Police, in a joint operation carried out by the Army and Police in Kumkadi area of Machal sector, 2 infiltrating terrorists have been killed so far. The operation is still in progress," said Kupwara Police.
"So far, 02 Aks, 4AKMags, 90rds, 01 Pak Pistol, 01 Pouch and Rs. 2100 Pak currency etc has been recovered from the encounter site. Search continues," the police added.
The operation is underway.
2 terror hideouts busted
Meawhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles busted two terror hideouts in the forest area of Nagbal Forest, Gulshanpora Tral in Pulwama. "Acting on a specific tip off, J&K Police and Army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles laid a cordon in the forest area of Nagbal Forest, Gulshanpora Tral. During searches, two terror hideouts were busted," said the Indian Army.
