The Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted a terrorist recruitment module in the Baramulla district and arrested three terrorist associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, an official said on Sunday. The police also recovered incriminating material including three hand grenades and 30 AK-47 live rounds from their possession.
The arrested terrorists have been identified as Lateef Ahmad Dar, a resident of Najibhat, Showkat Ahmad Lone and Ishrat Rasool both hailing from Pusnaag. The three individuals were working with the LeT outfit as terrorist associates.
Arrested individuals were masterminds of recruitment module
During the course of the investigation, it was found that they had identified four youth in the general area of Kreeri and were about to get them active in terrorist ranks in the near future. "The above three individuals were the masterminds of the recruitment module in the general area of Kreeri and were also in touch with active terrorists Umar Lone and FT Usman," the statement mentioned.
A case has been registered under sections Unlawful Activities (Prevention) and Arms Act in Kreeri Police Station and an investigation into the matter is underway.
Swift action against terrorists in the valley
In recent times, there has been a strong crackdown against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, with several terrorists being eliminated and some seeking refuge in Pakistan. Recently, the Inspector General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, issued a stern warning to terrorists. He stated that action against terrorists will continue, and they will not be allowed to live peacefully even across the border.
Singh said that security agencies have already initiated the process of seizing properties belonging to terrorists living in Pakistan. He stated that this action will continue, and efforts will be made to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, a strong response will be given to such nefarious elements.
