Pulwama encounter: A newly recruited local Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, said officials on Friday.
A joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police at New Colony in the Arihal area on the intervening night of November 30 and December 1 on specific intelligence input.
One terrorist eliminated
The Indian Army said that one terrorist was shot dead and weapons and war-like stores were also recovered from the area. However, the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorist are yet to be known. "Newly Recruited Local LeT Militant Killed in Pulwama Gunfight. Operation Concluded," said police.
"On specific intelligence input, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on the intervening night of 30 Nov-01 Dec 23 at Arihal, Pulwama. Cordon laid & contact established. 01xTerrorist has been eliminated along with the recovery of weapons and war-like stores. Search operation in progress," Chinar Corps, Indian Army said.
