Poonch: A mysterious blast took place near a temple in Surankote area of Poonch district, officials informed on Wednesday.
They said that the explosion occurred near Shivmandir. However, there were no immediate reports about any fatality or anybody getting hurt.
SHO Surankote confirmed the “mysterious explosion” and told that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been summoned to the spot.
Police and security forces cordoned off the area soon after the blast.
According to reports, there was an explosion near the temple at around 8:40 pm, the sound of which was heard far and wide. However, there is no news of any casualty.
After the blast, shrapnel was found on the walls of the temple. It is not yet clear who is behind this blast, although security agencies and other security forces have started investigation.
Sources further said that it could be a grenade attack as there could be a conspiracy to target minorities in Surankote since the blast took place right behind the temple.
