As the operation to catch down the terrorists behind the attack on the Indian Air Force's (IAF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district entered day three on Monday, the security forces released the sketches of two terrorists believed to be behind the attack. Announcing the bounty of a total of Rs. 20 lakhs, the security forces released the sketches on Monday (May 6), while assuring the public that the identity of the person sharing the whereabouts of the terrorists will be kept private.
It is pertinent to note that a well-coordinated joint operation by the army and police is underway in many areas, including Shahsitar, Gursai, Sanai, and Sheendara Top, in connection with neutralising the terrorists who are believed to have fled into a forest after the attack. Further, amid the massive search operation, the security forces have detained around 20 people in connection with the attack. According to the sources, the detainees were suspected of providing help to the terrorists in the attack.
It is pertinent to note that a total of five personnel received bullet injuries in the ensuing gunfight with terrorists in the Poonch district of J&K, near Shahsitar, on May 4, when the forces were moving towards Sanai Top in the district's Surankote area. Reportedly, close to 30 rounds were fired by the terrorists. While all the injured personnel were evacuated to the nearest military hospital for immediate medical attention, one air warrior, Corporal Vikky Pahade, succumbed to his injuries later.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Indian Air Force soldier, Corporal Vikky Pahade arrived in Chhindwara for the last rites today. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also reached Chhindwara. Speaking to media, he said, "Guard of Honour and State honours will be given to Corporal Vikky Pahade but no one can fill the personal loss. We are very proud of Vikky Pahade."
