Narco-terror case: The Special Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a key accused from Delhi, who was wanted in the narco-terror case in Poonch district. Mohammad Javed, a resident of Poonch, was an accused in a case linked to the smuggling of arms, explosives and narcotics from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
According to SIA officials, Javed had fled from the scene after his three accomplices were arrested along with a huge cache of arms, ammunition, IEDs and Heroin near the border fence in the Karmara area of Poonch on the intervening night of May 30, 2023.
Javed was absconding
“Brief facts of the case are that on 30/05/2023, an attempt was made by four associates in a narco terror module to smuggle drugs and explosives into India across the border fence at Poonch. The accused persons were intercepted by Sikh LI and apprehended with arms, ammunition, IEDs and Heroin. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the group of four persons (of which one had absconded from the spot) were being supervised by key accused Md Javed who was also absconding,” the SIA said.
SIA, after taking over the case on July 6, 2023, located the presence of the absconding accused in Delhi and he was subsequently arrested by its special team. “Upon technical surveillance and human intelligence, it was ascertained that Md. Javed was hiding in Delhi, where a team of SIA led by Insp Lakhvir was dispatched and Md. Javed was apprehended,” it said.
Earlier, Mohd Farooq (26), Mohd Riaz (23) and Mohd Zubair (22) were arrested while they were trying to smuggle the material from across the LoC into this side.

The investigation of the case is on and some more arrests are expected on the disclosure of Javed. “Further investigation into aspects of cross border operation of this narco terror syndicate which is found smuggling arms, explosives and narcotics consignments across the border is ongoing at SIA Jammu, so also aspects of amassing disproportionate wealth in short periods of time as is seen in the instant case is being investigated,” it added.
