Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday apprehended three terrorists related to the proscribed terror outfit 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) in the Natipora area of Srinagar. The operation was led by "Special Forces" focusing on TRF, an offshoot of the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Tarif (LeT). In a statement, police warned the public that there was a "planned terrorist attack" in Srinagar city.
Police seized three explosives, 10 bullets, 25 AK-47 bullets and other equipment related to the incident from the suspects. The arrest was made by a Srinagar police team. Also, police identified the arrested terrorists as Imran Ahmad Najar, a resident of Balam Rapur Bagh; Waseem Ahmad Matta, resident of Srinagar, Kamalwari; And Wakeel Ahmad Bhat from Pazalpora, Bijbehara.
Police said, "A team of Srinagar police officers arrested three terrorists affiliated with TRF, a branch of the terrorist organization in exile LeT, in the Natipora district of Srinagar." Following up on a clue, a group of Srinagar police set up a designated spot at Hannibal Natipora and captured the trio, the statement further informed.
Wakeel Ahmad Bhat, a former terrorist associated with the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK), has been released from the Central Prison. Police said during the preliminary investigation that they found three people collecting explosives and ammunition from TRF militants, fear of committing "terrorist activities in Srinagar city"
Three criminals were arrested by the Chanapora Police Department under Sections 3 and 4 of the Penal Code, Section 25 of the Gun Law and Sections 18, 23 and 39 of the Prevention of Unlawful Acts (Defence).
