The Indian Army and police foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, killing two terrorists. The bodies of one terrorist and war-like stores were recovered, while the search operation for another terrorist is ongoing.
"A joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and police immediately to intercept the terrorists. Hostile terrain, dense jungle and steep gradient was utilised by terrorists to bring down a heavy volume of fire on the troops," the PRO said, adding both the terrorists were eliminated on Wednesday.
The two terrorists were observed crossing the LoC towards the Indian side on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in the Mandi sub-sector of Poonch.
A joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and police immediately to intercept the terrorists. The terrorists used hostile terrain, dense jungle, and steep gradient to bring down a heavy volume of fire on the troops. However, the security forces retaliated and killed both the terrorists.
The operation is still ongoing and the search for the other terrorist is underway.
The foiling of the infiltration attempt is a major success for the security forces and a setback to the terrorists. It is a clear message to the terrorists that they will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs.
