The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, has said that the security forces are setting up "operation posts" to augment the anti-infiltration grid in the union territory. He said that these posts will be manned by the police and the army and will be equipped with modern surveillance gadgets. The DGP said that the operation posts will be set up in areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB). He said that these posts would help prevent infiltration by terrorists from across the border.
“Operation posts are being established by the police along with the Army in the border area to further augment the anti-terror grid and block the evil attempts being made from across the border,” the police chief said, as quoted by the news agency PTI.
The DGP also said that the security forces are conducting regular patrols and other exercises to keep a check on infiltration. He said that the forces are also working to improve the intelligence-gathering mechanism to prevent terrorist attacks.
The setting up of operation posts is part of the security forces' efforts to further strengthen the anti-infiltration grid in Jammu and Kashmir. The grid already comprises a number of measures, such as fencing along the LoC and the IB, and the deployment of troops in forward areas.
The DGP's statement comes in the wake of a recent increase in infiltration attempts by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. In the past few months, there have been a number of infiltration bids, some of which have been successful.
The security forces are determined to prevent infiltration and thwart terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. The setting up of operation posts is a step in that direction.
