Police in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, have apprehended an individual who was posing as a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) officer and have discovered various counterfeit documents and stolen household items in his possession. The case unfolded after a written complaint was filed with Police Station Kunzer by Farooq Ahmad Wani of Wassun Bangil. In the complaint, Wani detailed a series of events involving a group of individuals, including Javeed Ahmed Rather, Anjuman Afreen, Aaqib Ahmad Wani, and Rafeeq Ahmad Wani.
According to Wani, Javeed Ahmed Rather presented himself as a CBI officer to him, producing a forged CBI identification card. He falsely assured Wani that he could secure a spot for Wani's child at the National Defence Academy (NDA). As the situation progressed, the accused individuals allegedly resorted to theft, absconding with various household items, including a geyser, bedsheet, inverter, CCTV camera, LCD, and other valuables from Wani's residence. Additionally, Wani claimed that he was defrauded of a substantial sum amounting to 40 lakh rupees.
Consequently, a case has been registered at Police Station Kunzer, and an investigation is underway. Law enforcement promptly apprehended the individual who had posed as a CBI officer and recovered counterfeit documents, including the purported CBI card, as well as some of the stolen household items from the suspect's residence.
Community members are urged not to fall victim to such fraudulent individuals and to promptly share any information with the police. The consistent actions taken against anti-social elements demonstrate the commitment of the police to act resolutely against such harmful individuals.
