Jammu and Kashmir: Police Head Constable shot dead by terrorists in Baramulla, third terror attack in 3 days

Jammu and Kashmir: This was the second targeted killing by the terrorists in the last two days. On Monday, a Unnao labourer - Mukesh Kumar (38) - was shot dead in Pulwama. This was the third terror attack in the UT.

Terrorists shot dead a Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable near his residence in Wailoo Kralpora in Baramulla district, said the officials on Tuesday. Terrorists fired upon one Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel HC Gh Mohd Dar resident of Wailoo Kralpora in Baramulla at his residence, they said adding he was shifted to SDH Tangmarg for treatment. 

"The injured police personnel succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom. The area has been cordoned off and search operations are going on," they added.

"#Terrorists fired upon one JKP personnel HC Gh Mohd Dar resident of Wailoo Kralpora in #Baramulla at his residence. Shifted to SDH Tangmarg for treatment. Health condition critical," the official handle of Jammu and Kashmir Police posted on X.

Attack on cop comes day after killing of laborer in J&K

The tragic incident happened a day after a laborer from Uttar Pradesh was shot dead by terrorists in Pulwama. The back to back targeted killing highlights the ongoing security challenges faced in the region.

"Terrorists fired upon one labourer identified as Mukesh of U.P in the Tumchi Nowpora area of Pulwama, who later succumbed to his injuries. Area cordoned off," Kashmir Zone Police said on X (formerly Twitter).

Cop shot at by terrorists in Srinagar

In a similar targeted attack on Sunday, terrorists shot at a Station House Officer (SHO) leaving him injured near the EidGah area in Srinagar.

In the wake of a targeted killing by terrorists in Pulwama, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu & Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, expressed his confidence in the police force's ability to identify and apprehend those responsible for the recent spate of attacks in the region.

"I am confident that police will identify & nab those involved in yesterday's incident (in Srinagar, where a police inspector was attacked by terrorists) and today's killing of a labourer. We will not spare those behind the attack," stated DGP Dilbag Singh.

Fatal attack on migrant worker

The victim, identified as Mukesh from Uttar Pradesh, fell victim to a deadly attack when terrorists opened fire on him in the Tumchi Nowpora area of Pulwama. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, the area has been cordoned off.
