Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter breaks out in Rajouri’s Behrote Budhal area, one terrorist killed

Encounter broke out between the security forces and terrorists in the Behrote Budhal area of Rajouri. Two to three terrorists were reportedly trapped.

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Behrote Budhal area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir where two to three terrorists were reportedly trapped, sources said on Friday (November 17). One terrorist was killed in the gunfight, sources said. Security forces have been carrying out search operation in the area since morning, after which contact was established with the terrorists, leading to the encounter. At the same time, a search operation is being conducted by the security forces in Mendhar of district Poonch.

"One terrorist neutralised;huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site Behrot in Budhal of Rajouri District. The identity of the terrorist is being ascertained. Search operation underway," Jammu and Kashmir Police said.

Security forces had launched a search operation after reports of suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch.

The search operation was launched in the forward areas along the LoC, including Gursian and Bhata Durian, official sources said.

NIA action in Jammu and Kashmir

In a major action by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Dabbi village near the Line of Control located in Mendhar sub division of Poonch district, the NIA attached property of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TUM) terrorist in Poonch.

“The property of Mohammad Yasin, who worked for terrorist organisations and supplied drug smugglers and weapons, was confiscated. These people used to work for the terrorist organisation Ghaznavi Force, many cases are registered against them,” sources said.

A huge portion of 59 Kanal and 12 Marla land in village Dhabi of Balakot area was attached by NIA.

The attachment order was issued by the NIA Court Jammu on 30 September 2023.

“The land belongs to Mohammad Yasin and is related to the recovery of arms and ammunition, explosive substances, heroin belonging to the terrorist organization Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TUM) and its wing Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir,” officials said.

NIA investigation has revealed a conspiracy hatched by TUM/JKGF operatives operating from across the border and local people, who smuggled arms and ammunition, explosives and narcotics from the Line of Control (LOC), Balakot to the hinterland of Poonch, they added.
