Kashmir was jolted by three earthquakes on Saturday (August 5). Although there were no reports of any damage in either of them.
According to officials, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter Scale hit the state in the evening while 2 others were felt at different times of the day.
The quake hit at the latitude of 36.38 degrees north and longitude of 70.77 degrees east at the depth of 181 km, officials said.
Earlier the region was jolted by quakes occurring in Pakistan and in the Hindu Kush region at 8.36 am and 10.24 am. The two quakes, in that order, were measured 4.8 and 5.2 on the Richter Scale.
Earthquake jolts Pakistan
An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Pakistan on Saturday with no loss of life or property reported so far. As per the National Seismic Monitoring Centre Pakistan, the earthquake's epicenter was located near Tajikistan and Afghanistan border in the Hindukush mountain range.
Tremors were felt in India
The earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Delhi-NCR and Jammu and Kashmir. The tremors were felt all across North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. According to National Center for Seismology, the magnitude of the earthquake is said to be 5.8 on the Richter scale.
