Doda Encounter: At least three terrorists were killed during an ongoing encounter with security forces in a forest area in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Wednesday, police officials said. As per the officials, the search operation is still underway in the area.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police ADG Anand Jain, the terrorists killed in the encounter were Pakistani and they infiltrated before and with the help of ground workers (OGWs), they were hiding.
The Indian Army's Delta Force, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), received precise intelligence on the targets. The operation utilized advanced technology, including helicopters, drones, and other modern surveillance equipment, to effectively locate and engage the adversaries.
US-made M4 rifle recovered
A senior police officer said that three militants have been killed so far and a search operation is still underway in the area. The identity of the militants will be only ascertained once the operation concludes.
A large cache of warlike stores, including automatic assault rifles, has been recovered. The security forces have also recovered arms and ammunition, including a US-made M4 rifle, recovered from their possession.
Earlier a joint team of Police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Sinoo area on a very specific input. As the joint team approached towards the suspected area, the hiding militants fired upon the joint party, leading to an encounter.
Twin terrorist attacks in June
According to the officials, the gunfight started in Bajaad village in the Gandoh area around 9:50 am amid an intensified search and cordon operation conducted by the police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This operation followed twin terrorist attacks in the hilly district on June 11 and 12.
Six security personnel were injured in a terrorist attack at a joint check post in Chattargalla on June 11. The following day, a policeman was injured in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota top in the Gandoh area.
In response to the attacks, security forces heightened their anti-terrorist operations and announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakhs each for four Pakistani terrorists believed to be operating in the district.
The police, with assistance from security forces, launched an operation in the Sinoo panchayat but faced heavy fire from the hiding terrorists.
Chinese hand grenade recovered
Meanwhile, a Chinese hand grenade was recovered from the village of Pind in the Chingus area of Rajouri district, officials said. The grenade was found late Tuesday evening by a patrolling party of security forces.
