In a tragic road accident, two people lost their lives while 16 others were injured after a bus overturned near Kalith village of Jammu in Akhnoor.
Authorities responded swiftly rushing the injured to the sub-district hospital of Akhnoor for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Kewal Kumar and V Bhagat.
Dr. Vijay of Sub-district Hospital in Akhnoor said that three of the injured were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for further treatment while 13 were stable and undergoing treatment.
He said, "There were a total of 18 patients injured in the accident. Three of them were referred to GMC Jammu for a CT scan. We have 13 patients here who are stable. Two patience lost their lives."
22 kiled in earlier accident in Jammu
The tragic incident unfolded within a week on another horrific accident at a nearby area in Jammu that took lives of 22 people. On May 30, a bus travelling from Kurukshetra to Shiv Khori with devotees met with an accident after the bus skidded off the road at sharp turn and fell into a 150-foot-deep gorge near Chowki Chaura Tugi Mod in Kalidhar area of Jammu district. As many as 22 people had died and 60 people were reportedly injured. A rescue operation involving police and locals was launched and the injured were shifted to the sub-district Hospital in Akhnoor and GMC hospital in Jammu.
