Independence Day: Preparations are underway to celebrate the 77th Independence Day with much zeal and fervour throughout the country. Meanwhile, a video is doing rounds on social media which has caught the attention of people, wherein, a man can be seen waving the tricolour ahead of Independence Day. What is special about this video is that the man, named Rayees Mattoo, is said to be the brother of an active terrorist.

In a video, Mattoo can be seen saying that he waved the Tiranga without any pressure. He further claimed that for the first time, he is sitting at his shop amid the Independence Day celebration as his shop used to be shut for two to three days.

"I waved the Tiranga from my heart. There was no pressure from anyone...Saare jahaan se achha Hindustan hamara, hum bulbule hain iske ye gulistan hamara. There is development. For the first time I am sitting at my shop on 14th August, it used to be shut for 2-3 days. The previous political parties were playing games...My brother became one (a terrorist) in 2009, we don't know anything about him after that...If he is alive, I urge him to come back...The situation has changed, Pakistan can't do anything...Hum Hindustani theyy, hain aur rahenge," said Mattoo.

Security heightened across Jammu

Ahead of Independence Day, security has been beefed up across Jammu, especially along the borders with Pakistan, to thwart any attempt to disrupt peace in the region ahead of Independence Day, officials said on Sunday.

The army and Border Security Force have intensified their vigil all along the 225-km Line of Control (LoC) and 192-km International Border (IB), officials said.

Area domination and checking in the hinterland have also been stepped up as part of the heightened security arrangements, they said.

Police have issued a security advisory in the border district of Rajouri, seeking people's cooperation during checking and also asked them to report to security agencies any suspicious movement or object.
