Another encounter breaks out in J-K's Doda district, SOG jawan injured

This is the fourth encounter in three days. The attack, which occurred two days earlier, caused the bus to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge, leaving nine dead and 41 injured.

Doda encounterAnother encounter broke out between terrorist and security forces at Kota Top in the Gandoh sub-division of the Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. As per the reports, a cop from  Special Operations Group (SOG) has been injured.

Notably, this is the fourth encounter in the Union Territory over the past three days and the second one in the Doda region of the Jammu division since yesterday.

One jawan injured 

As per the officials, the firing was reported from the Kota top area of Bhalesa around 8:20 pm to which security forces retaliated. Constable Fareed Ahmed (973/D) of SOG Gandoh was injured during the operation at Kerloo Bhalessa. 

"Today at 20:20 hrs, an encounter started between security forces & terrorists at Kota Top, Gandoh, Doda. Constable Fareed Ahmed (973/D) of SOG Gandoh was injured during the operation at Kerloo Bhalessa. Encounter ongoing, more details awaited," ADGP Jammu said.

Official sources said that on specific input, a joint team of Police and the Army's 4RR launched a cordon and search operation in the area. As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering off a gunfight.

During the initial exchange of fire, one SOG personnel received a bullet wound, he was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. More details are awaited.

J-K Police releases sketches of terrorists 

The Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Doda district has released sketches of four terrorists who are reportedly active in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Gandoh and are involved in terrorist-related activities. The police have announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakhs for providing information leading to the capture of each of these terrorists.

Terrorists target Army base, 6 soldiers injured

Earlier on Tuesday evening, at least six soldiers were injured after terrorists attacked the Army's Temporary Operating Base (TOB) in the Chattargalla area on Bhaderwah Bani road in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda.  

In another incident late on Tuesday, a suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed by security forces in Kathua district. The overnight encounter ended after a second terrorist was also gunned down on Wednesday but a CRPF jawan lost his life in the operation.

On Sunday,  terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge, resulting in the death of nine persons and injuries to 41 others.
