A hybrid terrorist of the proscribed Al-Badr outfit, who planning terror activities, was arrested on Saturday in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar. The police also recovered incriminating materials along with arms and ammunition from his possession. Notably, hybrid terrorists are those who carry out attacks and then slip back into their routine lives.
According to the Srinagar Police, the arrested terrorist has been identified as Arfat Yusuf, a resident of Rajpora Pulwama from the Batamaloo area of Srinagar. Acting on specific intelligence, the city police arrested him with incriminating material such as arms and ammunition including a pistol, 20 live rounds and two magazines.
Yusuf was involved in terror-related activities
"Acting on specific intelligence, a small team of Srinagar Police arrested a hybrid terrorist linked with proscribed terrorist outfit Al-Badr identified as Arfat Yusuf, a resident of Rajpora Pulwama from Batamaloo area of Srinagar. Incriminating materials along with arms and ammunition including a Pistol, 20 live rounds and two magazines have been recovered from his possession," said the police in a statement.
Preliminary investigation reveals that Yusuf was involved in terror-related activities in South Kashmir Range and had come to Srinagar with nefarious designs and was arrested before he could execute any terror attack.
Yusuf was involved in throwing grenades at security forces
The police further said that he was involved in throwing grenades twice at security forces, first on a CRPF Vehicle in Rajpora and then at the CRPF/RR Camp at Hawal, Rajpora Pulwama.
Yusuf was also involved in pasting posters on March 26 and March 10 this year of Lone wolf warrior. Several terror crime cases have already been registered against him.
A case under sections 13 and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and 7/25 of the IA Act have been registered at Police Station Batamaloo.
