Causes of summer cold:
As per Dr Prashant Sinha, Head of PSRI Hospital, "Just as our lifestyle is changing, similarly the nature of germs and bacteria is also changing that is why people are falling prey to the infectious diseases in summer."
- The main reasons behind the common cold in this season are allergies and viruses. Not taking care of cleanliness and dust entering the body becomes the cause of allergies.
- In this season, there are strong hot winds and heat waves which bring dust and pollen with them and when these enter our body, our body becomes vulnerable to cold and cough.
- Most of the people like to run this in their homes during the summer season. Staying in AC increases dryness in the body. Due to the dryness of the body, the layer inside the nose and mouth also becomes dry. When this layer becomes dry and starts cracking, due to that the infection increases and then because of that people get cold and cough.
- If one person catches a cold, it can cause infection to all the people present in the house.
Symptoms of summer cold:
- Sneezing
- Runny nose

Prevention tips:
- To avoid cold and cough in summer, wear a mask while going out of the house so that dust does not enter the body.
- If someone is suffering from a cold then keep a proper distance from him. By maintaining distance the chances of infection are reduced.
- Clean your home and office regularly. If there is even a little diarrhea and dirt in the house, then due to this also you can become a victim of summer cold.
