Hypothyroidism is a condition where your thyroid gland is unable to produce thyroid hormone properly. In this, obesity increases rapidly in your body. What should a thyroid patient not eat?

Dr Swati Singh said that metabolism slows down when you have a thyroid. In such a situation, you should completely stop eating fatty foods, fried foods, excessively sweet things, and processed foods. Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, and soy contain goitrogens, which can harm a thyroid patient. You should eat them very little.

What to eat in the thyroid?

In thyroid, you should include fruits and vegetables rich in fibre. Eating fibre-rich things increases metabolism. Both micro and macro ingredients are found in fruits and vegetables which help in improving thyroid function in your body. Use iodised salt in food. Eat seafood. Lack of iodine in the body can also cause thyroid problems.

Essential vitamins for thyroid patients

Vitamin D deficiency is also found in the body of a thyroid patient. For this, you must sit in the sun for a while during the day or take supplements as per the doctor's advice. A thyroid patient should eat magnesium-rich foods like green leafy vegetables. Apart from this, selenium-rich foods like Brazil nuts and other dry fruits should be eaten.

How long after taking thyroid medicine should I eat food?

The medicine is given to the thyroid patient to take on an empty stomach in the morning. You should take any meal only after half an hour of eating it. So that the medicine can work properly. Secondly, you should not take calcium and iron medicines after eating thyroid medicine.

What exercises should be done in the thyroid?

The most important thing is that a thyroid patient should do some fitness exercise for 40-45 minutes a day. This will speed up the metabolism, because such people gain weight rapidly, which becomes necessary to control. You can do normal jogging, walking or any other exercise.
