The glycemic index of mango is of an acceptable level, hence even diabetic patients can eat it. Foods whose glycemic index is less than 50 can be eaten by diabetics. GI of mango is around 51. Therefore diabetic patients can also eat mangoes. 

Can one eat mango in diabetes?

If you are diabetic and eat mango, then know that mango has a low glycemic load. This means that when you eat mango, the sugar level does not increase immediately. Mango contains a lot of fibre due to which the blood sugar level remains under control. Mango is rich in minerals like vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin K, calcium, iron and potassium. A bioactive compound is found in mango which is called Mangiferin. It helps in controlling blood sugar. In many studies, it has also been found that mango controls the PP sugar level.

How many mangoes can a diabetic patient eat in a day?

Diabetic patients should eat mangoes while keeping their diet and calories in mind. On average, a diabetic patient can eat 100 grams of mango daily. That means you can eat about half a cup of mango. You should also include some kind of protein diet with mango. This will not increase your blood sugar rapidly. You can have nuts, cheese or eggs with mango.
