The liver is located in the upper right part of our stomach below the ribs. It plays an important role in digesting food, maintaining healthy blood sugar levels, controlling blood clotting and removing toxins. Overall, the liver is a very important and solid organ of our body. These days, the deteriorating lifestyle of people has had the most adverse effect on the liver. Due to not maintaining the lifestyle, people are falling prey to liver-related diseases. Liver damage also increases the risk of liver cirrhosis. When there is a problem in the liver, some such signs start appearing in the body in the beginning which you should not ignore. Let us tell you which symptoms should alert you when you see them in the body.

Itching at night

If there is a problem in your liver, the biggest sign is itching at night. When there is a problem in the liver, there is a lot of itching in our body. But itching becomes uncontrolled at night. Especially, the feet have the most itching. In such a condition, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Other symptoms of damaged liver:

  1. Stomach swelling: In liver disease, fluid starts accumulating in the stomach, due to which swelling may occur around the stomach.
  2. Nausea: If you are vomiting or feeling nauseous every other day then you should get a liver test done without any delay. 
  3. Lack of sleep: The sleeping pattern is also affected due to liver-related problems. If you are not able to sleep at night for a few days, then definitely consult a doctor. 
  4. Change in urine colour: The colour of urine changes when there is a liver problem. If you notice a change in the colour of your urine, you should immediately consult a doctor.

How to prevent liver disease?

In case of liver-related diseases, stay away from fatty foods. Also, do not touch alcohol and cigarettes. Liver disease can also be caused by bad eating habits. Wash hands thoroughly before eating. Do not take any medicine without the advice of a doctor.
