Dengue cases cross 5,000 mark in Delhi, learn prevention tips and symptoms

Dengue cases in Delhi have most likely reached the mark of 5,000 on Monday. The health authorities in the national capital warned the capital residents to stay aware as the numbers could go up in the coming days due to temperature changes ahead of winter. The problem of dengue is very common during the rainy season. If treatment is not received at the right time, it can even lead to death, so to stay safe from its dangerous fever, it is very important to take some necessary precautions during monsoon. 

Dengue is also called breaking bone fever. Its initial symptoms are similar to those of normal flu or viral fever, due to which people ignore it and go to the doctor only when their health starts deteriorating. Due to this carelessness and lack of information, people lose their lives. If you have problems like fever, and severe headache for several days continuously during the rainy season, then get yourself tested for dengue immediately. Besides, it is also important to know about the measures to prevent it.

  • Pain in muscles and joints
  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Eye pain
  • Dizziness
  • Feeling like vomiting

Ways to avoid dengue

1. Do not allow water to accumulate around the house or even inside the house. If pots, coolers, or stored tires get filled with water, drain it immediately. Take special care of cleanliness during these days.

2. If there is water in the cooler, then add kerosene oil to it, this reduces the chances of mosquitoes breeding.

3. Do not leave water tanks open, keep them covered well.

4. Wear clothes with full sleeves and covering your legs as much as possible. Send children outside only after applying mosquito repellent cream.

5. If the symptoms mentioned above persist for a long time, immediately consult a doctor.

  • In case of dengue, take as much water and liquids as possible.
  • Eat light and simple food.
  • Do not take medicines without consulting a doctor.
