The scorching heat nowadays makes it difficult for us to go out of the house under the strong sunlight. However, children are still going to school. In the scorching heat of May, the problem of vomiting and diarrhoea troubles children the most. Children fall ill if there is even the slightest disturbance in their eating habits. Especially children who eat a lot of outside food are the first to face such problems. Many times children fall ill due to drinking less water in the scorching heat. If the child is suffering from diarrhea then take special care of his food and drink. Know what should be fed to the child during vomiting and diarrhea, so that he does not get too weak and the child recovers quickly.

What to feed a child when he has diarrhoea or if he vomits?

Give fewer milk products - If the child has vomiting and diarrhoea, feed less milk products. Especially one should avoid feeding milk or curd on an empty stomach. Children who digest milk less may face further problems.

Feed light food – When the child has an upset stomach i.e. diarrhoea and is also vomiting, then feed light food. Avoid feeding too much food at once. Feed only a little food at a time which is easy to digest. Feed only home-cooked food. You can feed curd and rice to the child. Apart from this, you can also feed mung dal khichdi.

Keep giving water – the body becomes weak due to vomiting and diarrhoea. There is a lack of water in the body, so keep drinking plenty of water. Give ORS solution to the child to protect him from dehydration. Keep giving water containing salt and sugar at home. Can give coconut water.

Include these foods in the diet - In case of diarrhoea and vomiting, you can feed rice, moong dal khichdi, oatmeal, porridge, bread, and boiled potatoes in the child's diet. Feed curd to the child at this time. Probiotics are found in curd which help in maintaining the balance of good and bad bacteria in the stomach.

Feed banana- If your child has diarrhoea, you can feed him a ripe banana. This settles the stomach and provides instant energy. However, bananas should be fed only when vomiting and diarrhoea subside. Do not feed mangoes even by mistake at this time.

Other prevention tips:

Avoid feeding ice cream to children in summer when they are exposed to sunlight and sweat. Do not let children play outside in strong sunlight. Keep giving children plenty of drinks and liquids. Keep them away from outside food and junk food. Feed them as many fruits and vegetables as possible.
