The Haryana Cabinet on Wednesday recommended the dissolution of the state assembly to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. The Cabinet has recommended to dissolve assembly from September 13. Meanwhile, CM Nayab Singh Saini will visit Raj Bhawan to meet the Governor at around 9:30 pm.

The dissolution comes as the six-month duration without House proceedings was to expire on September 12. As per Article 174 of the Constitution, the governor needs to summon the House or both Houses of the state legislature to meet as he thinks fit, but there must not be a gap of six months between the last sitting and the date of appointment for the first sitting of the next session.

Last sitting on March 13

The last sitting of the assembly was held on March 13 when CM Saini won the vote of confidence after Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation. Since then, the assembly has not been summoned by the Governor. Therefore, the Cabinet recommendation will avert the constitutional crisis in the state. As CM Saini is set to meet Governor Dattatreya today, he is likely to resign from the office of the chief minister.

Assembly elections in state

It is worth noting that Haryana is to go for assembly polls on October 5. The polling for all the 90 seats will take place on a single day. On October 8, the Election Commission of India will conduct votes counting and declare the results. The winning party or coalition will form the government for the next assembly.
