Gujarat IMD Alert: A heavy to very heavily rainfall alert has been issued in Gujarat by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for July 22.

The weatherman has predicted more than 204.4 mm of rainfaill in the state on Saturday.

The IMD has also issued a red and orange alert for several districts in Maharashtra including Mumbai, Palghar, among other districts.

The weather department further said that isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Konkan, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during next two days, while subdued rainfall over northeast and remaining parts of east India is likely to continue during next four-five days.

Earlier today, Mumbai witnessed another spell of showers and heavy rain in different parts of the city and suburbs, with many low-lying areas submerged, officials said.

City areas of Colaba, Marine Lines, Mumbai Central, Byculla, Dadar, Parel, Worli, Bandra, Kurla, Sion, Ghatkopar, Bhandup, Andheri, Mulund, Jogeshwari, Borivali and Dahisar were lashed by intermittent heavy rain or showers.

The downpour disrupted traffic movement with massive snarls in the city, suburbs, the two highways touching the city and arterial roads, while the Andheri and Dahisar subways experienced waterlogging for some time.

The suburban local train networks functioned normally as the railway tracks were not waterlogged, even as Mumbai remains under an Orange alert for Friday and Saturday.
