Gujarat: A fire broke out in one of the coaches of the Dahod-Anand MEMU train at the Jakot station in the Dahod district of Gujarat on Friday. According to reports, the MEMU train (an electric multiple-unit train that serves short and medium-distance routes) was going towards Godhra when the incident took place at the Jakot station.
As one of the coaches caught fire, it triggered a panic among the passengers who rushed out of the train to save their lives. The smoke was visible from a distance. However, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control by the firefighters who reached the spot on time.
The Dahod Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and senior railway officers were also present at the incident site. According to ASP K Sidhant, the fire broke out in the last compartment of the MEMU train and didn't spread to the remaining coaches.
