Morbi Bridge Collapse: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the Morbi bridge collapse, has submitted a 5,000-page report in the Gujarat High Court in which it has held Oreva company's Managing Director Jaysukh Patel, its manager Dinesh Dave among other officials responsible for the incident.
The probing agency further said that it was not an accident but a murder of over 130 people.
In its report, the SIT has held Oreva company and its top officials fully responsible for the tragedy saying safety protocols on the bridge were ignored.
The SIT has recommended to lodge a case under IPC 302 against the accused in the matter
"There was no restriction or blocking system on the bridge... its fitness report was not ready before the opening of the bridge... Also there was no restriction on the sale of tickets... and lack of safety equipment... the Oreva company did not care about how many people were allowed on the bridge...," the report said.
"For this, prima facie, the whole management of the company, including its managing director and two managers appear to be responsible," it said.
It is to be mentioned that the work to maintain the Morbi bridge had been given to the Oreva group.
At least 135 people were killed and over 50 injured after a British-era suspension bridge on the Machchhu river in Morbi collapsed on October 30 last year.
