In a shocking development, a hand grenade has been found in Kandla Special Economic Zone, Kutch, Gujarat. According to primary information, this hand grenade is suspected to be from the US Army. Investigation has revealed that the hand grenade was found in a waste consignment imported from abroad.
Soon after receiving the information, the East Kutch reached the spot, with a police convoy and started an investigation of how this grenade came to Kandla SEZ.
The grenade, believed to be of a kind used by the United States armed forces, was not `live', said an official. "The hand grenade is not live and primarily appears to belong to the US Army. Police are investigating the matter," he said.
Kandla SEZ, situated nine km from Kandla Port, is considered to be the country's largest multi-product functional SEZ, spread over 1,000 acres with more than 300 units operating within its limits.
