In an appalling incident, a dead frog was found inside a potato wafers packet prompting the Municipal authorities to order an inquiry on Wednesday. The incident was reported from Gujarat’s Jamnagar where a four-year-old child found a dead frog in a packet of Cruchex chips.
The chips under the name Crunchex is manufactured by Balaji Wafers. Talking about the incident, an official of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation said that they will collect samples of the production batch of the wafer packet as part of the investigation.
Food Safety Officer to take ssamples
Meanwhile, the Food Safety Officer D B Parmar said, "One Jasmin Patel informed us that a dead frog was found in a packet of Crunchex, manufactured by Balaji Wafers. We visited the shop from where it had been purchased last night. Preliminary probe suggested it was indeed a frog in a decomposed state.”
He added, "As directed by the municipal commissioner, we will collect samples of this batch of wafer packets to conduct an inquiry."
Notably, Jasmin Patel is a resident of Pushkar Dham Society in Jamnagar. He claimed that his four-year-old niece bought the packet from a nearby shop on Tuesday evening. According to Patel, she and his nine-month-old daughter ate some of the wafers before his niece spotted the dead frog.
"My niece threw the packet away...I did not believe her when she told me. But I too was shocked to see the dead frog. When the distributor and customer care service of Balaji Wafers did not give a satisfactory reply, I informed the food safety officer in the morning," Patel said.
Human finger in ice cream
The incident was reported days after a Mumbai resident claimed to have found a piece of a human finger in the ice cream which he had ordered online.
The complainant, Brendon Ferrao (26), is a doctor with an MBBS degree and is a resident of the Malad area in the metropolis. "In his complaint, he said that he ordered a butterscotch ice cream cone from Yummo company through an e-Commerce app. While consuming the ice cream after lunch, he found a piece of flesh with a nail in it," a police official said.
