A heart-wrenching video of a girl being murdered openly on the street is going viral on social media. According to those sharing it, a Muslim man murdered a Hindu girl in broad daylight. However, our fact-check has proven this claim to be false.

India TV Fact Check: A video is going viral on social media showing a young man standing next to a young woman's corpse. In the video, the young man brutally beats and kills the woman. This disturbing video is being shared with the communal claim that a Muslim man named Salim murdered a Hindu girl named Aarti. However, when India TV fact-checked this claim, it was found to be completely false.

This claim was widely viral on social media. Therefore, we decided to investigate it. First, we used Google Open Search to search for more information, and we found that this claim is false because both the accused, Rohit, and the victim, Aarti, are Hindu. The one-minute and 24-second video was recorded by people standing nearby. In the video, the accused is seen holding a spanner in his left hand while standing next to the woman's body lying in the middle of the road. The onlookers watch but do not intervene.

The viral video was shared with a Hindi caption stating, "Salim proposed to Aarti, but Aarti refused. After that, Salim openly killed Aarti on the road and stood calmly next to the body. No one dared to say anything to him." We found several news reports mentioning the broad daylight murder, stating that the accused, Rohit, killed his ex-girlfriend Aarti on June 18, 2024, at around 8:30 AM in the Chinchpada area of Vasai East, Palghar, Maharashtra.
