Google is working on a new safety feature to address this issue. Reports suggest that this Google feature will act as a protective "shield" for smartphones. When the phone starts to overheat, users will receive notifications through this feature, potentially preventing the phone from catching fire or exploding.
According to a report by Android Authority, this feature is currently in the development stage and will be introduced for Google Pixel smartphones. The safety feature is named "Adaptive Thermal," and information about it has been found in the APK file of the recently released 1.27 version of the Device Health Service app for Pixel smartphones.
Smartphone's security 'shield'
According to the report, this Google feature will issue a pre-emergency alert when the battery temperature exceeds 49 degrees Celsius. When the alert is received, users should stop using the phone to allow it to cool down. The smartphone will start to notify the user when it overheats, with messages such as "Phone needs to cool down," and it will also slow down its performance to reduce the battery load and allow time to cool down.
Already available on iPhone
Similar features have been introduced for iPhones, providing notifications to cool down the device when the battery heats up. Google aims to roll out this feature for its millions of Android users, starting with Pixel smartphones. Once the Adaptive Thermal feature is introduced, users will be alerted to cool down their smartphones, potentially reducing the risk of fires and explosions.
