The Noida Authority has approved a draft Master Plan 2041 for New Noida for which 21,000 hectares of land would be acquired with a focus on industrial development in the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR), where New Noida has been proposed to be developed, according to the officials.

Noida, also a satellite city for New Delhi in Uttar Pradesh which came to its being in 1976 has now a cluster of residential buildings and industrial projects, which earlier used to be farmland.

The land is rapidly running out of space and therefore Greater Noida came up in the early 1990s. However, there was a need felt for an extension to ease the pressure on Noida.

In the 210th board meeting of the Noida Authority on August 13, headed by Manoj Kumar Singh, Uttar Pradesh additional chief secretary, state infrastructure and industrial development commissioner, and also chairman of the authority. There was a discussion on the recommendations of the Amitabh Kant committee on stuck housing projects.

What is New Noida Master Plan 2041?

The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) has prepared a New Noida Master Plan, under which special economic zones for industrial units from the agricultural, food processing and FMCG sectors will be brought up. The plan will also have knowledge centres, logistics hub, integrated townships and skill development centres.

A budget of Rs 1,000 crore has also been set aside this year for land acquisition and internal development in New Noida.

The authority also plans to acquire agricultural land from 20 villages in Gautam Buddha Nagar and 60 villages in Bulandshahr for New Noida.

The Noida authorities has chosen to rename this territory "New Noida," and instead of developing it into a residential hub like the existing city of Noida, which covers an area of 16,000 hectares, it will be transformed into an industrial hub.

Other decisions approved include filling open clerical grade positions in the Noida authority through recruitment, changing the land uses in Sector 162 and Sector 164 to allow roads in the green belt because some farmers' objections to land acquisition are delaying road construction work.

Discussions about stuck projects

According to the officials, the board also deliberated on the recommendations of the Amitabh Kant committee on the stuck projects.

In another decision the board, it approved a proposal permitting the authority to hire an agency for the conduct of a study. It also suggested how to de-congest the roads of Noida, Greater Noida and other nearby areas.

According to the officials, the recommendations will be implemented for the provision of smooth connectivity to commuters, when the study is completed.
