Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai continues to top the TRP charts despite being the longest running television show of the recent times. As if its existing popularity is not enough, the serial is all set to have its own spin-off on the same channel. Producer Rajan Shahi has confirmed the news to a publication that Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is going to have a spin-off which will be aired simultaneously as a separate TV show. So far, Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi star Shaheer Sheikh has been roped in as the male lead. The producer has also confirmed that Shaheer will be seen in a never-before avatar. According to the reports, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Peeyaji actor Rhea Sharma will play the female lead opposite Sheikh in the spin-off. Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma as leads

Shaheer Sheikh rose to fame with his debut TV show Navyya, in which he played the male lead opposite Soumya Seth. He later played the role of Arjun in Ekta Kapoor’s Mahabharata. He became a household name with Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi. On the other hand, Rhea Sharma played the female lead in Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piya Ji. She also featured in Dhoni: An Untold Story, playing Kiara Advani’s friend.

Ritvik Arora, who played the male protagonist in Tu Aashiqui opposite Jannat Zubair is also reported to be in the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai spin-off. According to IWM Buzz, “The spin-off will see the kids from the Maheshwari family growing up. The spin-off will only address the younger generation of the Maheshwari clan, that is Akshara’s family.”

As per the reports, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai spin-off will be based on the younger generation of Maheshwari family, Akshara’s family.

Actor Harshad Arora was also in talks to play one of the male leads in the show while Tushar Khanna is supposed to play his brother. However, Shaheer Sheikh and Ritvik Arora have replaced them.

The story of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai spin-off will be based on two brothers and two sisters. Shaheer and Ritvik will play the brothers. Kaveri Priyam will play Ritvik’s love interest.

Vish Ya Amrit actor Sangeeta Kapure will be Shaheer and Ritvik’s Chachi in the show. However, apart from Shaheer Sheikh, no other actor has been confirmed for the spin-off so far. On Twitter, the actor wrote that he would give his best shot to the show.

"I don't know if I am a good choice for anything.. but I will try to give it my best," his tweet reads.
