Telly actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who rose to fame after playing the role of Dr Haathi in the popular show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, died of cardiac arrest on Monday. This came as a big shock not only to viewers but to his co-stars as well. Dilip Joshi, who is seen playing the role of Jethalal in the show is shocked by Kavi’s demise. He stated that he was in London and had no idea about the sad news adding that he needs to find what happened.
Mandar Chandwadkar aka Bhide revealed to an entertainment portal Spotboye that it is a big shock as they were supposed to shoot but then they came to know that the actor is unwell, so the team decided to let him rest and work without him.
He stated, “I still can’t believe that he is not with us. We used to sit together, eat together. As soon as he used to come, even before greeting us with a good morning, he used to ask, ‘Tiffin mein kya laya hai?’ He was a foodie in real life also. He is irreplaceable.”
The news of Kavi’s demise was confirmed by the show’s creator, Asit Kumarr Modi. In a statement to IANS, he said, “We are very sad to inform the loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azad. He was playing the character of Dr Hathi in 'Taarak Mehta...'. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning. He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning saying that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything.”
