Recently, the news broke out that Kumkum Bhagya actress Mrunal Thakur has been roped in to play a role opposite Hrithik Roshan in Super 30. Now another TV actress is all set to foray into Bollywood and she’s none other than Simar aka Dipika Kakar from Sasural Simar Ka. After Mouni Roy and Mrunal Thakur, it’s now turn for Dipika to prove her mettle on silverscreen. The actress has shared the news on her official Instagram account.
According to her, she has bagged a role in J.P. Dutta’s war film Paltan, which is based on the Sino-Indian war of 1962. Paltan stars Harshvardhan Rane, Suniel Shetty, Sonu Sood, Rana Daggubati, Pulkit Samrat, Siddhanth Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Gurmeet Choudhary.
The elated actress shared the poster of Paltan on her profile and wrote, “What better could I ask for than being a part of a #JPDuttaFilm as my first one!! Such an honour to join the #Paltan"
Dipika Kakar will star alongside Esha Gupta and Monica Gill in J.P. Dutta’s Paltan. Esha will be playing Arjun’s wife and Monica will be paired opposite Harshvardhan. Dipika’s role has not been revealed yet.
J.P. Dutta who has helmed LOC Kargil and Border in the past, told Deccan Chronicle, “The emotions we are dealing with here are more complex and varied. It's about the relationship the soldiers leave behind and how it affects the families. Border dealt with the soldiers' love interests, but Paltan will also showcase their siblings and parents. It will also display the soldiers' brotherhood, as they save each other when at war."
Dipika Kakar was a part of popular daily soap Sasural Simar Ka which airs on Colors TV. She took an exit from the show in 2017 after which she took part in dance reality show Nach Baliye Season 8 with partner Shoaib Ibrahim.
