It’s been more than a year since young TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee left the world for her heavenly abode, but her best friend Kamya Punjabi isn’t yet over her untimely demise. While shooting for a suicide scene in her TV show Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Kamya was reminded of Pratyusha’s plight and the actress broke down on the sets. She cried so inconsolably that the team had to halt the shoot to comfort her.
Kamya, who plays the role of Preeto in Color’s TV show Shakti- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, had to shoot for a suicide sequence. The scene required her to step on a table and try to hand herself from a fan. But as soon as she stepped on the table, she had a flashback of her best friend Pratyusha Banerjee’s suicide. She started crying inconsolably and shooting was called off.
A source told SpotboyE, “Kamya was bawling. She told those present that the moment she stood on the table and was about to enact the suicide scene, memories of Pratyusha flashed in front of her. She could feel that her best friend must have gone through immense pressure to get to that stage.”
“In this sequence, family members react instantly and save Kamya’s character in the nick of time. Kamya wished Pratyusha too had loved ones around,” adds the source.
After much pacifying, the actress tried to give the shot again. Kamya refused to talk about this matter. She said, “I have nothing to say! This is something I will never be able to talk about! Hope you understand!”
Kamya Punjabi and Pratyusha Banerjee met on the sets of Bigg Boss 11 and they were inseparable ever since then. After Pratyusha’s death, Kamya stood by her family and has been vocal about Rahul Raj Singh’s role in her death. She continues to fight for her.
Earlier this year, Kamya Punjabi also released a short film on Pratyusha Banerjee. Meanwhile, her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh had tried to get a stay order on the release, but he didn’t manage to halt its release.
